Strong Candidate Market Continues

The November Bureau of Labor statistics data is in and with record low unemployment matching levels from 1969, we are still experiencing a very strong candidate market. https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf With another month at 3.5% unemployment candidates seeking to make a change in careers will have their choice and be highly sought by employers. At 2.0% unemployment for workers with a college degree there is even less in the unemployed market for employers to compete for, which means it’s a great time for an unemployed candidate to find a job and a great time for an employed candidate to consider a change. Another trend to note from the data is the growing demand for the employees in installation, maintenance and repair occupations with unemployment rates down to 1.6%. Employers are competing heavily in this space for skilled workers as they are in high demand.
With record unemployment, salaries are being driven higher in numerous industries and candidates in many industries that are making moves are seeking as much as 20% increase in compensation.
